Manuscript Evaluation
What is a manuscript evaluation?
Similar to a developmental edit, a manuscript evaluation focuses on the story’s content to guide authors in improving the big-picture elements, like character development, emotional connection, pacing, structure, and world-building. A manuscript evaluation is not a replacement for a developmental edit, but it is a less extensive and less expensive option.
A manuscript evaluation is for authors who plan to query, self-publish, or want hands-on help in learning content editing.
You should consider a manuscript evaluation after your story’s final draft or when you’ve taken your story as far as you can and are ready for some guidance.
A manuscript evaluation does not focus on substantive or technical edits. Check out the line edit service for substantive edits or the copy edit service for technical edits.
A manuscript evaluation is one round.
